This is possible through NACA’s advocacy and by working with the major servicers and investors. The servicer is whom you send your mortgage payment to every month. They have a contract with the investor(s) who owns your loan that gives them authority to modify or restructure your loan if you are at risk of foreclosure. Thus the servicer has a lot of discretion in changing your loan terms.

NACA has agreements with the major servicers to restructure loans. If the servicer is unable or unwilling to accept the NACA solution, we are given the opportunity to appeal the decision with investor. We have been extremely successful in achieving an affordable solution for thousands of homeowners. We have made the process as efficient and effective as possible. For you to be a successful homeowner through NACA you need to follow the process.

In order to move through the process as quickly as possible you should complete as much as you can on our website at www.naca.com. If you do not feel comfortable using the web or computers call the local office a week after attending the workshop to make an appointment. Your counselor can input the data and submit your documents. Please use your best efforts to use the web as described below.

Data:
Input your data in the web-submission section. This is necessary information about you and other household members, your property, your mortgage, income, liabilities and expenses.

Documents:
Submit documents into your electronic file. The required documents are the following:
  • Pay Stubs or Verification of Income (most recent 30 days)
  • Mortgage Statement (most recent available monthly)
  • Property Tax Bill
  • Homeowners Insurance Bill
This first step is to attend this workshop where we outline the Stages for you to achieve an affordable mortgage payment through NACA. This workshop will provide you with an overview of the process and focus on you submitting your mortgage solution to the servicer and getting it accepted. After the workshop you can make an appointment with a NACA counselor either face-to-face or by phone. Once you have provided all of the necessary information and documentation your file would be submitted to the servicer for approval. You may need to advocate for your solution.

MAKING AN APPOINTMENT:
Once you have completed the workshop you can make an appointment for an individual counseling session either face-to-face or by phone. You can make the appointment once you have received confirmation of your workshop attendance which you should receive by email within one week from attending. The fastest and most effective way to make an appointment is to go to naca.com. You can also call the local NACA office once you receive the workshop confirmation. If you live more than one hundred miles from the nearest workshop you can make an appointment without having to attend as long as you have completed the web-submission.

Auction Date:
If you have an auction date, we will work to postpone it while we work with you. We can work with you after you complete the web-submission at naca.com and then complete the Urgent Situation. While we have been very successful at stopping auctions you should be pursuing other options in case we are unable to get the postponement by the servicer.
