NACA Brings its “Community Day Out” to Greenspoint on April 10th

Community Advocacy Mixes with Family fun in the Sunnyside Area

(Houston, TX) A wide variety of important community resources will come together in the Greenspoint area this Saturday as NACA presents its second Community Day Out at Green House International Church, 200 W. Greens Rd, Houston TX 77067 from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

NACA’s first Community Day Out on April 10th brought more than 500 people to Greater Harvest Church in Sunnyside for an afternoon of family fun that also helped create a stronger community by bringing a wide variety of important resources together in a single location. The Community Day Out has food, music and a variety of activities in a kid-friendly environment while also making important information and opportunities directly accessible to local residents.

NACA National Director Angeanette Thibodeaux noted, “This first Community Day Out in the Sunnyside area was a huge success and we were able to bring needed resources to the area, where they are often unavailable. Now at this next event we will have many Elected Officials, Community Leaders and Social/Economic Justice Leaders and Activists coming to the event to work directly with members of the community. This time there will be even more resources and more people in attendance, especially now that the word is out about the events.”

Rev. E.A. Deckard, Pastor of Green House International Church added, “We are eager to host this NACA Community Day out. NACA has been a strong partner with Green House in serving the Greenspoint community for several years. We have been pleased to host several of their Homebuyer Workshops and Achieve the Dream events in the past, and now the Community Day Out takes NACA’s commitment to this area to an entirely new level.”

Thibodeaux continued, “This isn’t just a one-time happening.  We will be taking the Community Day out to other parts of the Houston area every couple of weeks so that our communities can be better connected, have better access to resources and be more clearly heard by those we have chosen to lead our communities.  We will also be expanding the Community Day Out to other cities, such as Atlanta, Georgia and Charlotte, North Carolina in the next few weeks.”
