Chief Justice Daher Opens Courtroom to Over a Hundred First Time Landlords for Unprecedented Landlord Training

(Boston, MA) On Saturday April 27e from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. the Honorable E. George Daher, Chief Justice of the Suffolk County Housing Court, will conduct an unprecedented forum for over 100 first time landlords who have purchased a home through the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (“NACA”).

Chief Justice Daher will conduct this landlord training from the bench to a packed courtroom of first-time landlords.   NACA Members will be coming from throughout Massachusetts for this unprecedented seminar which will be presented in both English and Spanish.  This is a landmark  event for a Judge to open up his court in order to educate landlords on the laws and nuances of managing rental units in their property.   The participants are low to moderate income home buyers who could only afford homeownership by having rental income to pay a portion of their mortgage.   Through NACA’s best in America mortgage program they were able to purchase a home with no downpayment, no closing costs, no fees, and no perfect credit, at a below market interest rate (currently 6.0%).

The participants want to do the right thing but their lack of experience in being a landlord sometimes causes unnecessary problems for them or their tenants.  States Chief Justice Daher, “I see landlords in my court everyday as both plaintiffs and defendants.  Many of them could have avoided the problems if they had the proper information and could get answers to their questions.   This is a great opportunity for me to be proactive in avoiding some of the very difficult and often unnecessary decisions I must make everyday.”

Justice Daher is setting the standard nationwide for effective education that provides owner occupant landlords with the tools and information to make homeownership effective for themselves and their tenants.
